Transport tenders in Switzerland

Public tenders for vehicles, rolling stock, bus services, school transport and logistics in Switzerland, with current deadlines and full sources. Titles and summaries are translated into English. The official notices are published in German or French, and each detail page links to them on simap.ch.

Overview

Transport tenders span two CPV divisions. Division 34 covers vehicles and equipment: cars and commercial vehicles, buses, municipal and fire service vehicles, rail vehicles, overhead line and railway technology, and spare parts. Division 60 covers transport services: scheduled bus services, school transport, freight and courier services, and vehicle hire with driver. Buyers are railways and transport operators, municipalities and their works depots, cantons, federal bodies and the army, hospitals, and utilities and waste companies.

Context

Vehicles and rolling stock are tendered as supplies, openly or selectively, usually with a technical specification, options for further units and a maintenance or service part over several years. For rolling stock and railway technology, contract terms and lead times are long, and getting the vehicle approved is part of the job. Transport services are often awarded per line, route or area in lots, and municipalities frequently tender school transport by invitation. Prices are quoted per kilometre, per hour or as a lump sum, depending on the price sheet.

What matters

For vehicles, buyers look more and more at the cost over the whole life cycle as well as the purchase price: energy use, maintenance costs, warranty, spare parts availability and how close the service workshop is. Electric drives are often required or scored for municipal vehicles and buses. Minimum technical requirements are usually mandatory, and an offer that misses one is excluded. For transport services, buyers check the fleet, replacement vehicles, driving licences and permits, punctuality and how breakdowns are handled. Questions on delivery dates, variants and deviations from the specification belong in the questions round.
