Medical and laboratory equipment tenders in Switzerland

Public tenders for medical devices, consumables, laboratory equipment and pharmaceuticals in Switzerland, with current deadlines and full sources. Titles and summaries are translated into English. The official notices are published in German or French, and each detail page links to them on simap.ch.

Overview

Medical and laboratory equipment tenders cover CPV division 33: medical devices such as imaging, operating theatre and endoscopy equipment or patient monitoring, hospital beds and furniture, medical consumables, pharmaceuticals, reagents and laboratory supplies. Buyers are university and cantonal hospitals, regional hospitals and hospital groups, ambulance services, care homes, universities and research institutes, and federal bodies such as the Armed Forces Pharmacy. Some hospitals buy together through purchasing groups.

Context

These are supplies, tendered openly or selectively above the thresholds. Large equipment is usually bought with installation, training and a service and maintenance contract over several years, often with options for consumables and upgrades. Consumables and pharmaceuticals go through framework agreements with lots by product group. Follow-up purchases for existing systems are sometimes awarded directly when only the original manufacturer can supply compatible equipment; the reasons are then published on simap.ch.

What matters

Buyers score how well the technical requirements are met, the price over the equipment's life including service and consumables, service response times, the training concept and often a trial installation or on-site demonstration with the future users. You need to show conformity under the Swiss Medical Devices Ordinance, Swiss marketing authorisation for pharmaceuticals, and references from comparable hospitals. A dealer rather than the manufacturer usually needs a confirmation from the manufacturer. Interfaces with the clinical information system and existing devices often cause problems, so raise them early in the questions round.
