Overview

The Confederation, the cantons, the municipalities and public companies publish their tenders on simap.ch, the shared procurement platform for Switzerland. Besides the federal administration, you will find hospitals, universities, universities of applied sciences, transport operators, energy utilities and many municipalities there. This overview collects the notices for the industries where Swiss suppliers bid most often, including IT, engineering, building technology, environmental services, transport and energy, and sorts them by canton and by industry.

Context

Since 2021 the revised Federal Act on Public Procurement (BöB) applies at federal level, and the Intercantonal Agreement IVöB 2019 at cantonal and municipal level. Both follow the same logic. Above the relevant thresholds, a contract has to be tendered publicly in an open or selective procedure; below them, invitation procedures and direct awards are allowed. What appears on simap.ch is therefore the part of the market that must be published. It is also the part with the largest contracts and the toughest competition.

What matters

Three things matter in practice. The first is the deadline: in an open procedure there are often 40 days or more between publication and submission, and longer for complex projects. The second is the questions round. Most tenders run an anonymised question forum on simap, and its deadline often falls two or three weeks after publication, so a team that reads the documents just before the submission date has already missed it. The third is language. The submission language set in the notice is binding: usually German in German-speaking Switzerland, French in Romandy, and sometimes several official languages for federal tenders.

With Sealio

Sealio analyses the documents behind each notice, tracks the question and submission deadlines, and tells you when a new tender fits your profile. The entries below are grouped by industry, and the canton and category pages narrow them down further; each detail page summarises the buyer, the scope and the dates. For a first qualification, scope, procedure, required evidence and available resources are not enough on their own. Check that your references match the task, that the key people you would name are available, and that there is enough time to write in the required language. Only then is it worth planning effort and price in earnest. The practical guide for bidders and the article on SIMAP for bidders explain search alerts, deadlines and submission in detail.
