AO Laser ablation system DETCO 2026
The University of Geneva seeks a 193 nm excimer laser ablation system to map trace elements in carbonate and silicate minerals, including zircon for in situ dating.
- Deliverables
- Supply a system for fast geochemical mapping, coupled to an Agilent 7900 and eventually an Agilent 8900.
- Contract
- Base price includes acquisition, delivery, installation, commissioning, training and DDP; optional warranty extensions add 1, 2 or 3 years.
- Eligibility
- Mandatory: a 193 nm pulsed excimer laser optimized for fast mapping with quadrupole ICP-MS; provide objective proof of compatibility.
- Award
- Technical value 55%, price 25%, ergonomics and sustainability 15%, after-sales service 5%; technical scoring covers performance and compatibility.
- Watch out
- Offers remain firm and binding for 4 months; the buyer may request an extension, with refusal potentially leading to exclusion.

The Department of Earth Science at the University of Geneva is seeking vendor to supply a 193 nm excimer laser ablation system. The primary application area of the system, which will be coupled to an available ICP quadrupole mass spectrometer Agilent 7900 and eventually to an available Agilent 8900, will be the mapping of trace element distribution in various carbonate and silicate minerals, with a special focus on carbonate minerals and zircon mapping preparative to their U-Pb or U-Th in situ dating.
