Die KuBa Freizeitcenter AG betreibt ein Freibad und eine Kunsteisbahn. Die Kunsteisbahn mit Baujahr 1975 ist laufend unterhalten worden. Bausubstanz und Haustechnik wurden sachgerecht gewartet und bei Bedarf ersetzt. Eine erste Teilsanierung hat im Jahre 1995 stattgefunden. Aufgrund des Alters besteht der Bedarf, dass die Kunsteisbahn einer Sanierung zu unterziehen ist. Die KuBa Freizeitcenter AG beabsichtigt nach dem Stand der Technik sowie dem Stand der Sicherheitstechnik eine neue Kältetechnik, neue Kälteplatten sowie ein neues Technikgebäude zu erstellen. Die neue Kälteanlage unterliegt der Störfallverordnung, was zur Folge hat, dass das Gebäude in die Bauwerksklasse BWK 3 fällt und folglich die neue Infrastruktur entsprechend umzusetzen ist. Die Sanierungsarbeiten sollen in zwei Etappen umgesetzt werden, verteilt auf zwei Jahre. Massnahmen am Freibad oder am Betriebsgebäude sind nicht vorgesehen.
