BöB
The Federal Act on Public Procurement, the legal basis for federal-level contracts.
As Switzerland's Federal Act on Public Procurement, the BöB governs how federal bodies and federally-linked contracting authorities publish and award contracts for supplies, services, and construction.
The revised BöB and its ordinance (VöB) took effect on 1 January 2021. The revision brought the federal act largely in line with the cantons' IVöB, and widened the room for quality, sustainability, and innovation criteria alongside price.
For bidders, it matters that the BöB only applies at federal level. Cantonal and municipal contracting authorities work under the cantonal implementation of the IVöB instead.
