IVöB

The Intercantonal Agreement on Public Procurement, the legal basis for the cantons.

As the intercantonal agreement on public procurement, the IVöB is the shared foundation that cantons and municipalities then transpose into their own implementing law.

The revised IVöB 2019 took effect on 1 July 2021, and only applies in a canton once that canton has joined and implemented it. In substance, it is largely harmonized with the federal BöB.

Before bidding, a supplier should check which canton the contracting authority belongs to, and whether its implementing law diverges from the federal rule, for instance on deadlines or appeal procedures.
