Deadlines & thresholds

Thresholds

Value limits that determine which procedure is allowed for a given contract.

Thresholds determine which procedure is permitted for a contract based on its estimated value: direct award, invitation, or an open or selective procedure. The Confederation and cantons use different values, and the thresholds vary by supplies, services, and construction work.

The intercantonal IVöB body confirmed on 26 November 2025 that thresholds for 2026 and 2027 stay unchanged. The full table by level and service type sits in the 2026/27 thresholds guide.

For bidders, thresholds explain why a contract was published openly, sent only to invited firms, or awarded directly. They can also determine whether an appeal route exists.
